Real Bride: Sarah & Chris
OUR STORY
Couple’s Names:
Sarah & Chris
Wedding date:
December 7, 2021
Our engagement story:
We got engaged at the Budapest Christmas markets underneath a huge Christmas tree in December 2018.
Our love story:
We met working together at a hotel in Newcastle on the wedding conference and banqueting team. We worked on other people’s weddings behind the bar. A few cheeky kisses on nights out whilst I was studying in Newcastle…nothing much came of it. A year or so later we started seeing each other between Leeds and Newcastle and our love started to grow. I then moved from Leeds to Newcastle to settle down with Chris.

What it means to be Catherine Deane Bride:
What it means to be Catherine Deane Bride:
An absolute pleasure. The design was just right for me and I felt like I was in a fairytale all day. It had all the elements I had hoped for in a dress.
Falling in love with my Catherine Deane gown:
I felt like the best version of myself when I put it on. I went with the feeling of the dress rather than how I looked in the mirror. I knew I could wear it all day and feel comfortable but also look like me!
Bridesmaids dresses:
Phase Eight, Olivia lace Scuba maxi dress in Damson.
WEDDING DETAILS
Our wedding venue:
Ellingham Hall, Northumberland. A hidden gem up in the North East countryside. A stone’s throw from the beach. The venue is an exclusive hire that allows you to share the full hall with your loved ones the night prior and the night of the wedding. It’s super cosy inside, with fires lit in each room and decadent decor.
Our wedding style:
As we had a winter wedding in December, we wanted to have a touch of Christmas but not too festive. We had bold and deep colours in our flowers and lots of fairy lights everywhere to create a real magical ambience. We had wreaths on our tables and a huge 80cm diameter wreath above the fireplace behind the top table. We wanted to make people feel warm and cosy so the fires were lit in each room. We also had a Quality Street themed cake that was one of the main centrepieces in the blue room of the venue. Put on display in front of a gorgeous, elegant mirror.
Our photographer:
Margarita Hope Photography. A great friend and super talented photographer who captured the love and magic of our day! Dan from We Were Here videography was brilliant and had some fab ideas for us to shoot including dancing in a pitch-black ceremony room once it had been cleared they put a spotlight on us and we danced alone for a few minutes. Very romantic and a special moment.
Our Honeymoon destination:
Not booked yet, due to covid. But we hope to go somewhere hot soon to relax, unwind, and reflect on our amazing wedding day!
Our most memorable moment:
We remember the whole day so well and it’s so hard to pick, but we would probably say the ceremony itself. A once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Our funniest moment:
Getting a fairy light cape and dancing to our 6-piece band! The cape then did the rounds for the guests and everyone had great fun wearing it.
Speeches certainly got a few laughs, especially the best men.
The saxophone entrance we did to Freed From Desire - bridesmaids and groomsmen led us into the room ahead of the wedding breakfast, with a sax player playing us into our guests who were all on their feet clapping!
Also the lifesize cutout of our dog!
