Our Bride: Katie Snooks

OUR STORY
 Couple’s Names:
Katie and Geoff Snooks
  Wedding date:
30/04/2022
  Our engagement story:
After the first lockdown in 2020, Geoff and I booked a trip to Yorkshire to see his family for the first time that year and we decided to visit the Lake District for a romantic getaway afterward. On our first full day, we went exploring the lakes and stumbled upon a row of stunning waterfalls, where we sat and Geoff proposed. He said he wasn’t actually planning to propose on this trip and my actual engagement ring was hidden back at home, but he had told his parents that he was going to ask me to marry him and his mum had given him his Grandma’s engagement ring. Sat next to the waterfall he got excited and decided to propose then and there. I had no idea but it was perfect and intimate and very us.
  Our love story:
We have a very typical 21st-century love story as we met on the dating app Hinge! We had our first date on a Monday night in a pub in Dalston and we both felt a very real connection almost immediately. We were both dating app pros and this just felt different. We moved in together 9 months later!
FASHION NOTES
Bride's wedding dress:
Rumi Gown
Falling in love with my Catherine Deane gown:
I had a day full of wedding dress shopping with my mum and my appointment at Catherine Deane was my last appointment of the day. Despite being exhausted, I was excited about it as the London Showroom was in Wapping (an area of London I love and it was 1 minute away from mine and G’s first home together). I tried on so many beautiful dresses but as soon as I tried the Rumi on I fell in love. As soon as I put a veil on I knew it was the one, also from my mum’s reaction! I loved how delicate and sparkly it was, that it twinkled under lighting, and knew it’d work well in our wedding venue! I also loved that it was a champagne shade and not just a white or ivory dress!
Bridesmaids dresses:
I wanted all of my bridesmaids to feel confident on my wedding day and so I decided on a shade of colour for their dresses and let them choose their own. We had a mega try-on session at my house with lots of prosecco and I loved how they all had dresses that they felt comfortable and great in! They were all high street as I had a budget!
Tell us about your Wedding Venue:
We got married at Wiltons Music Hall, one of our favourite buildings and date spots in London. It’s the world’s oldest surviving Music Hall from the 1690s which survived the Great Fire of London. It’s beautifully rustic with brick walls, wooden floors, and the most magical hall with fairy lights which is still used as a theater now. I’m East London born and bred and so getting married in the area was very special to my family and me!
Wedding style:
We didn’t have a specific wedding theme, we just wanted a day full of love and a great party for our friends! I wanted to go colourful with the flowers and our florists Minoux Flowers outdid themselves. It felt like a fairytale meadow on the stage throughout our ceremony and the garland they created made a great backdrop for the speech pictures too! Our food all had an East End theme with a traditional pie and mash for the wedding breakfast and Brick Lane Bagels for the evening party.
  Our photographer/videographer:
I knew I wanted Papertwin Weddings to do our wedding film as their videos are so romantic and I’ve loved their previous wedding videos. Our photographer Ed was recommended to us and I couldn’t have been happier that we chose him. He captured so many wonderful candid moments we had missed and captured the energy of our day!
  Our Honeymoon destination:
We are yet to plan our main honeymoon but we went to a little hotel in Yorkshire after our wedding for a mini-moon where we explored some local waterfalls and we ate our wedding cake from a Tupperware in a hot tub - it was bliss!
  Our funniest moment:
It’s got to be when my Dad and I were waiting to walk down the aisle, I heard everyone in the ceremony laughing, so our amazing caterer who helped organize the day had a peak and told us that my sister had walked down the side of the venue rather than the middle aisle! Once she realized she ran back and everyone laughed. I loved hearing our guests laughing and even though she was embarrassed.
